The Cool Kids Reading Challenge has been a very successful incentive for schools to promote reading within the student body, at the same time, teaching children about helping other children.
The Reading Challenge is generally hosted by a school (public or private) in the form of a read-a-thon between students and teachers/parents to determine which team reads the most minutes in a 2-4 week time frame. Each student seeks pledges; prizes are based on earnings.
