Setting up a Cool Kids Café is a wonderful way to teach kids the satisfaction of helping others while experiencing the challenge of “running a business.”

The one-day café is a project that your kids, group or team create from beginning to end … from choosing the menu, decorating, deciding on a budget and uniforms … and more! There are no set rules for the Cool Kids Café except to have fun and to help those children living with cancer.

The Cool Kids Café concept is very similar to a pancake breakfast. However, kids organize and operate it (and are usually far more creative with the menu!). Most cafés consist of pasta dishes and other easy-to-serve meals; however, any food works if kids want it to!

It’s your project to operate any way you prefer – please know that our staff is available to answer questions and to support you all the way to the café!

What are “cool” kids and parents saying about hosting a café event?

In our busy lives, we are quick to squash kids’ ideas and find excuses as to why they can’t do things, like running a restaurant for a day. I am so glad our son Christopher encouraged my husband and I to slow down our lives to allow ‘Kids Kitchen’ to operate on a hot summer day. His crazy idea of running a restaurant for a day doesn’t seem so crazy to me anymore! Thank you for helping to make this dream a reality for the kids who participated. ~ Michelle Gavin, parent
It was fun being part of a real restaurant. The more kids that do it, the more money we get to give to kids with cancer.” ~ Chris, age 13
What a great way of learning to serve others and have fun in such a positive, productive way.” ~ Louise Scalzi, parent
We thought it would be a fun thing to do with our neighborhood friends. We also wanted to help the kids with cancer.” ~ Hayley (age eight) and Taylor (age six)
